If you've read What it takes, you'll see it takes a
great deal of technology and equipment to make quality digital images.
It is more work and more expense than film for small quantities of work. Why
do I lug around gear and learn to use so much of this computer equipment?
Because it is worth it. (I might be slightly insane too - in a good way).
I have color managed equipment to print high quality archival pigment
based images on two foot roll paper. These images are said to be good for
a hundred years or more.
I cut mattes and frame images as well. I actually
prefer to provide images matted and framed, as it protects the image and makes
the image presentable. It also prevents the inadvertent use of incompatible
frames which could damage the print. (The print must not touch the glass.)
I have a basic selection of matte colors, but any color matte or frame
can be special ordered.
While I ocassionally do photography for money, I don't call myself a
professional. I don't seek weddings, portraits, or other work as I have a
job and family that keeps me pretty busy. Photography is just an
expensive creative passion. However, I wouldn't mind if some of this hardware
paid for a portion of itself, so I am making available limited amounts of
my time to provide prints for others.
If you are family or practically family, let me know what you're looking for
in late October and you might find something under the Christmas tree.
